Responsibilities- Assist clinical staff when performing examinations and observe patients while in care and during transitions between steps of procedures.
- Facilitate patient throughput by performing room turnover and stocking supplies; accompany patients and items during transport as needed (e.g., IV poles, O2 tanks).
- Start IVs for contrast injections where appropriate and maintain exam rooms with supplies and linens.
- Inventory and order paper forms; follow procedures for transporting and disposing of dirty equipment.
- Perform QC on POCT lab testing devices and document results per policy after training; complete annual refresher training.
- Perform POCT prior to procedures when appropriate after training; assist with patient transport and hand-offs per protocol.
- Ensure patient safety by communicating potential issues, applying fall risk precautions, infection control precautions, and standard precautions; maintain confidentiality of patient information per HIPAA guidelines.
- Explain procedures to patients and families, obtain 2 identifiers for patient verification, and notify technologists of any safety concerns.
- Assist with supply and room stocking activities and keep Supply Room and Clean/Soiled Utility Rooms maintained.
- Comply with Wellstar Health System policies, standards of work, and code of conduct.
Minimum Education
- High School Diploma General or GED General
- BLS - Basic Life Support or ARC-BLS - American Red Cross Basic Life Support or BLS-I - Basic Life Support - Instructor
Clinical Experience in a Healthcare Setting. Medical Imaging experience preferred.
Required Minimum SkillsDemonstrates good communication skills and handwriting. Must obtain medical terminology training within twelve (12) months. Must be able to communicate and understand verbal and written English and maintain a positive attitude. CPR certification.
