Schedule
:
Commits to working a minimum of 48 hours per 4-week schedule. Days, flexible start/end times, occasional overtime.
Must have surgical experience.
Responsibilities- Conduct phone screens on elective surgery patients, ensuring accurate patient information and assessment.
- Document patient data in accordance with SSH policies, including medication reconciliation, narcotic withdrawal, and pain assessment.
- Develop, evaluate, and update individualized plan of care; communicate prioritized problem list and plan of care to team.
- Perform admission assessment within 8 hours of admissions; identify teaching needs.
- Monitor patient comfort using appropriate pain scales; document interventions.
- Advocate for patient and family, seek resources, and raise ethical concerns as needed.
- Communicate daily plan via white board updates.
- Facilitate discharge/transfer and communicate barriers using chain of command.
- Maintain a culture of safety; verify patient identification; adhere to CDC hand hygiene and universal precautions.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory and privacy standards; safeguard patient information.
- Engage in professional development, obtain at least 5 contact hours per year.
- Utilize technology, including Lotus Notes, software applications, and other departmental tools.
- Support hospital emergency preparedness and understand procedures during codes.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary team to promote positive work environment.
- Apply critical thinking to solve problems and communicate solutions effectively.
- Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing.
- Licensed RN in Massachusetts with active BLS and ACLS certifications.
- Prior acute care RN experience, preferably in surgical settings.
- Strong documentation skills aligned with SSH policy and procedural standards.
- Excellent communication, critical thinking, and teamwork abilities.
