This position applies basic and some advanced technical knowledge to solve low voltage electronic problems and requires basic and advanced technical knowledge to solve fire alarm/fire suppression electronic problems.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Maintains, repairs, troubleshoots, modifies, and installs various types of electronic equipment and related devices.
- Works on electronic transmitting and receiving devices (i.e., radar, radio, television, telecommunication, and navigational aids), elevators, fire alarm systems, and personal and main frame computers and terminals.
- Inspects, maintains and repairs installed fire alarm detection and suppression systems in accordance with manufacturer's specifications and the national Fire Protection Association standards.
- Interprets manufacturer's manuals or similar documents to resolve electronic problems.
- Evaluates interrelationship of circuits and judgment in planning work sequence.
- Determines equipment malfunctions and restores equipment operation.
- Reviews performance and reliability of equipment.
- Performs preventative maintenance (PMOs).
- Responds to and completes repairs on Demand Maintenance Orders (DMOs).
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as required or requested.
- Minimum requirements for this position include a High School Diploma or equivalent GED plus a minimum of three (3) years journey level low voltage electrician experience working with electronic equipment and circuitry.
- A valid Georgia Driver's License and ability to maintain military gate pass access are required.
- Experience responding to and completing repairs on Demand Maintenance Orders (DMOs).
- Knowledge of data conception, form, and spatial aptitude.
- Knowledge of the practices and procedure of low voltage electronic equipment circuitry, installation, and performance.
- Knowledge of safety procedures.
- Skill in motor coordination and manual dexterity.
- Skill in establishing priorities and organizing work.
- Skill in public and interpersonal relations.
- Skill in oral and written communications.
Must have the ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, managers and staff members. Ability to write reports. Must have the ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, fellow employees and customers.
Reasoning AbilityMust be able to read and interpret various information to ensure procedures are followed.
Physical DemandsThe employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms, and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance, stoop, kneel, or crouch. The employee may occasionally be required to lift more than 50 pounds. The employee must have close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
WorkEnvironment
Work environment will require on-call rotation. The employee may be exposed to noise, dirt, dust, grease, machinery with moving parts, irritating chemicals, and occasional cold, heat, and inclement weather. The work may require the use of protective devices, such as masks, goggles, and/or gloves.
A Background and Drug Screening will be performed for this position.
