This position is located at Winn Army Community Hospital, Fort Stewart, Hinesville, GA. Nurse (Lactation).
Salary Range$80,910 to $102,763 per year.

Winn Army Community Hospital is a 112-bed community hospital which will feature a new Women’s Health and Mammography Center. Our healthcare team provides primary and specialty care for a patient population of over 70,000. As a civilian family practice physician you will play an integral role in providing exceptional healthcare to the Soldiers and Families in our great Army and the 3rd Infantry Division.
Key supporting specialties at Winn include OB/Gyn, general and orthopedic surgery, EENT, Psychiatry, Dermatology, and Urology. As a Lactation Nurse you will:
- Provide comprehensive clinical care, health assessments, and therapeutic services for breastfeeding mothers and infants.
- Manage your personal caseload, make nursing diagnoses, develop treatment plans, and refer complex cases to physicians.
- Develop and lead breastfeeding education for patients (antepartum to postpartum) through classes, individual consults, and educational materials.
- Actively promote breastfeeding initiatives and support existing programs facility-wide; manage a reference library and educational content.
- Plan, coordinate, and document annual and ongoing breastfeeding education and competency activities for nursing and physician staff.
- Develop staff resources and lead performance improvement projects to promote "Baby Friendly" hospital practices.
- Oversee the activities of all staff providing breastfeeding support throughout the facility.
- Manage lactation support rooms, handle patient complaints, and provide neonatal resuscitation (NRP) during emergencies.
- Serve as a resource and liaison between departments, providers, and community services.
- Lead the Breastfeeding Committee, coordinate patient referrals, and participate in conferences and publications.
- Participate in quality improvement and research processes by identifying problems, collecting data, and analyzing clinical outcomes.
- Conduct annual audits and maintain statistics on breastfeeding rates to measure the impact of interventions.

- Degree: A graduate or higher level degree, bachelor’s degree, associate degree, or diploma from an accredited professional nursing educational program is required. This education must have been accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education, Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs, Accreditation Commission for Midwifery Education, or an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained.
