Duties & ResponsibilitiesAs the Electrical Engineer, you are responsible for reviewing, inspecting, and testing electrical systems and equipment installed in both military and civil projects. The incumbent oversees all types and phases of electrical and construction operations. In collaboration with the supervisor, they assist in planning and scheduling field construction activities, providing recommendations for grading methods and problem‑solving solutions based on their in-depth knowledge of the work and field conditions.
The engineer also consults with contractor representatives and the supervisor on major, complex, or technical issues. Additionally, they keep the supervisor updated on field developments and the status of work at various stages, offering special advice on progress concerning specific aspects of the construction.
This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD, Section 9905 to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.
Minimum Education Requirement Engineering: Bachelor's degree (or higher) in engineering. The program must lead to a degree in a school with at least one program accredited by ABET. Specialized ExperienceServe as the technical expert on complex electrical systems, resolving critical design conflicts when required; lead the review and approval of electrical submittals, ensuring compliance and maximizing energy efficiency for critical USACE missions.
Time in Grade RequirementApplicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-11).
