Kitchen Assistant (Part‑time) at HC‑One.

Position Type: Part‑time, 16‑20 hours per week with full flexibility required.
About the RoleAs a Kitchen Assistant at HC‑One, you’ll value kindness above all, ensuring each resident receives respectful care through nutritious meals. You will support the Chef or Cook, maintain a clean kitchen, and help ensure food safety and dietary requirements are met.
Responsibilities- Assist with meal preparation under the direction of the Chef or Cook.
- Serve meals with warmth and respect in a timely and friendly manner.
- Maintain cleanliness and hygiene in the kitchen, including equipment and surfaces.
- Monitor and record food storage temperatures (fridges, freezers, etc.).
- Support stock rotation and ensure ingredients are properly stored.
- Show new team members how to safely use kitchen equipment.
- Wash up and ensure the kitchen remains spotless even after a busy lunch rush.
You should have some kitchen experience and a genuine passion for helping others. An NVQ2 in Catering or Food Preparation is preferred, or a willingness to work towards one. Strong organisational skills, an eye for detail, and the ability to follow recipes and record information accurately are essential. Above all, you must demonstrate patience, respect, and genuine kindness when interacting with residents and co‑workers.
SafeguardingAll staff must recognise signs of abuse, harm or neglect and know what to do if concerns arise. You will attend safeguarding training and may need to undertake additional training in related areas. You will also have the ability to seek advice and report concerns, including escalation if action is not taken.
