Registered Nurse Cath Lab – Full Time – Days Job Summary

The Registered Nurse serves as a leader of the healthcare team at Novant Health by establishing authentic personalized relationships with patients and their chosen support systems, collaborating with physicians and other team members to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualized plans of care that promote optimal health or support peaceful death. The RN accepts responsibility, authority, and accountability for management and provision of care in accordance with current policies and procedures.

These RN’s possess the skills, competency and qualifications required to work in three (3) acute and three (3) ASC facilities within a defined market:
Greater Charlotte (GCM), Greater Winston Salem (GWSM) or split market. This group shall be known as the General Pool. These RNs are part of Surgical Services. The specialties within the Surgical Services float pool include Sterile Processing, Operating Room, Pre-Op/Phase II, and PACU.

  • Schedule:

    7:00am–5:00pm, Days Shift, Full‑Time
  • On‑call required 3–5 times per month. Must report within 30 minutes.

Responsibilities

Lead the healthcare team; establish authentic personalized relationships with patients and support systems; collaborate with physicians and team members to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualized care plans; promote optimal health or support peaceful death; accept responsibility, authority, and accountability for management and provision of care; work in three acute and three ASC facilities within a defined market; float pool includes Sterile Processing, Operating Room, Pre‑Op/Phase II, and PACU.

Qualifications
  • Education: 4‑Year / Bachelor’s Degree (preferred). 2‑Year / Associate Degree (required). Graduate of an accredited school of nursing required. For inactive, retired or lapsed RN license, refresher course and reinstatement required.
  • Experience: 2 years of relevant experience (required).
  • Licensure / Certification:
    • Current RN licensure in appropriate state (required).
    • Advanced certifications as required per facility (required).
    • Specialty Certification (preferred).
  • Additional Skills / Requirements (required):
    • Customer service, effective communication, conflict resolution, critical thinking, computer literacy.
    • Advanced training as required by department.
    • Ability to set priorities and organize workload of unit.
    • Knowledge and skills necessary to modify care according to patient’s age.
    • Ability to interpret information to identify each patient’s requirements for care relative to his/her specific needs.
    • Review of results of studies relevant to patient’s current status and operative/invasive procedure.
    • Objectively evaluate suggestions, grievances and processes to identify opportunities to improve performance and quality of care.
    • Provides comfort and reassurance to patient and family;
      Maintains patient’s privacy, confidentiality and dignity.
    • Maintains current knowledge of professional standards and guidelines (AORN, ASPAN, SGNA, etc).
    • Completes individualized orientation, demonstrates skill proficiency, participates in ongoing education activities relevant to perioperative nursing and strives to achieve certification.
    • Incorporates research findings into practice, seeks evidence‑based knowledge and participates in research activities by involvement.
