Job Duties And Responsibilities
  • Provide best‑in‑class guest service: promptly greet guests; respond quickly, effectively, and courteously; assist with gaming needs; inform of promotions; recommend items; apply all selling behaviors; thank guests for shopping; prioritize guests over tasks.
  • Support the total shopping environment, including visual and operational elements, current sales initiatives, and guest relationships that drive sales and repeat business.
  • Process guest purchases/returns accurately using the POS computer system.
  • Respond to guest comments/questions in person or on phone; handle calls promptly and professionally; elevate issues to the Store Manager when warranted.
  • Promote Game Stop’s guest benefits such as the reservations program, trade‑in program, and Pro Rewards loyalty program.
  • Assist the Store Manager with setting service expectations for associates and training them in policies, procedures, and guest service.
  • Observe associate performance; provide feedback; address unsatisfactory performance.
  • Record written feedback for each associate in Workday/HR systems.
  • Ensure associates complete onboarding, training, and compliance before working shifts.
  • Schedule associates, ensuring guidelines and breaks are followed; supervise staffing levels for optimum service.
  • Approve payroll, manage time‑off, and verify proper compensation.
  • Maintain cleanliness and merchandising of all store areas, including restrooms.
  • Fulfill Omni‑Channel orders and ship daily.
  • Control inventory, prevent loss, and perform bank deposits as required.
  • Support sales, profit, and shrink goals; complete administrative duties.
  • Conduct inventory counts, restock shelves, and organize merchandise alphabetically.
  • Balance daily transaction totals and complete closeout paperwork.
  • Verify shipments; record discrepancies; communicate with Store/District Manager.
  • Process defectives/recalls accurately.
  • Maintain safety awareness and report injuries promptly.
  • Maintain orderly store records/files.
  • Delegate tasks to Sales Associates and Retail Keyholders when the Store Manager is absent.
  • Adhere to all Game Stop policies and procedures in the Associate Handbook and Code of Standards, Ethics & Conduct.
  • Follow all opening and closing procedures.
Qualifications
  • Proof of identity and eligibility to work in the United States.
  • Minimum age 18 years.
  • High school diploma or equivalent; associate’s or bachelor’s degree (preferred) in business, marketing, merchandising, or related field.
  • At least 6 months of retail management experience (preferred).
  • At least 2 years of retail sales, guest service, and/or management experience (preferred).
  • Video game knowledge (preferred).
