Job Details- Location: Hilo, HI 96720 (On-site) — Travel Nurse / PACU RN position
- Assignment Type: Travel Contract (Travel Nurse assignment)

- Contract Length: 26 weeks
- Openings: 2 PACU RN positions
- Hours per Week: 36
- Shift Duration: 12-hour rotating shifts (may include 8- and 10-hour shifts)
- Schedule: Variable — days, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays possible
- On-Call: 0–3 on-call shifts/month (8-hour nights and 24-hour weekends/holidays); pager rate $5/hour
- Estimated Weekly Pay Range: $1,860 – $1,960
- Pre-Start Requirements: Arrive the Thursday before start for employee health appointment on Friday; flu vaccination required or approved exception
- Experience: Minimum 2 years PACU or critical care RN experience (ER/ICU hospital experience may substitute)
- License: Active Hawaii RN license required by start date (must apply upon offer if not already licensed)
- Certifications: BLS and ACLS (American Heart Association) required
- Preferred: PALS (AHA) recommended; additional specialty certifications (e.g., NIHSS, TNCC) may be required for specific roles
- Skills: Strong post-anesthesia assessment, airway management, hemodynamic monitoring, medication administration, IV/PCA management, and perioperative patient handoffs
- Provide safe, high-quality nursing care in pre-op, Phase I, and Phase II PACU/postoperative recovery
- Perform advanced post-anesthesia assessments: airway, hemodynamics, pain management, and neurological checks
- Monitor incision sites, temperature, and signs of complications; intervene per PACU protocols
- Administer medications and therapies per orders, including PCA and IV infusions
- Coordinate patient flow, transfers, handoffs, and discharge readiness while maintaining patient safety and comfort
- Document care accurately in accordance with unit standards and regulatory requirements (electronic charting)
- Use unit equipment:
Meditech, PCA pumps, Pyxis, Braun IV pumps, Cryocuff, SCDs, Bair PAWS warmers, HP and Phillips monitors
