RN - PACU

This is a 13-week contract position.

Shifts vary between 8, 10, and 12 hours and can be Days, Evenings, Nights, and Weekends/Holidays. There is no guarantee of hours or shift preference, and On-Call shifts may be required 0-3 times per month.

The Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) Registered Nurse is responsible for the care of patients in the pre-op phase as well as during Phase I and II recovery following surgical procedures. PACU nurses must demonstrate advanced knowledge in anesthesiology and manage the complexities of post-operative recovery.

• Caring for patients pre-op and assisting in Phase I and Phase II recovery.
• Assessing incision sites and monitoring body temperature and other indicators of patient stability.
• Demonstrating critical thinking abilities to respond effectively to any complications that arise after surgery.

• 2+ years of experience as a critical care RN (i.e., ER & ICU) in a hospital setting may be accepted in lieu of PACU experience.
• Valid BLS and ACLS certifications from the American Heart Association.
• A valid professional license within the state of Hawaii is required.
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification is recommended and may be required for specific positions.
• Other specialty-related certifications (i.e., NIHSS & TNCC) are preferred and may be required.
