Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced PACU RN with a current HI RN license and strong critical care or post-anesthesia experience.
Responsibilities- Position is in the Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) in a hospital setting
- Care for patients pre-op, phase I, and phase II post-operative recovery
- Patient population includes adults and may include pediatric cases
- Shifts are variable and may include 8, 10, or 12-hour day, evening, night, weekend, and holiday shifts
- On-call is required 0-3 times per month, including 8-hour night and 24-hour weekend/holiday shifts
- Equipment used includes Meditech EMR, PCA Pumps, Pyxis, Braun IV Pumps, Cryocuff, SCD's, Bair PAWS Warmers, HP Monitors, and Phillips Monitors
- PACU RNs assess incision sites, monitor for complications, and ensure post-anesthesia patient stability
- Critical thinking and advanced knowledge of anesthesiology required
- All travelers must report to Employee Health 48-72 hours prior to assignment start
- Proof of flu vaccination or an approved exception is required prior to contract start
- Plan to arrive in Hawaii the Thursday before a Monday start to complete health clearance
- Active HI RN license required by assignment start date
- Minimum 2 years of PACU or critical care (ICU or ER) RN experience in a hospital setting
- BLS and ACLS certifications from the American Heart Association required
- PALS certification is recommended and may be required for some positions
- Other specialty certifications such as NIHSS and TNCC are preferred
- Experience with Meditech EMR preferred
