About the Job:

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Business Accounting Manager to oversee our financial operations and contribute to strategic decision-making. This is a mid-level position with some supervisory responsibilities. This role involves managing accounts payable and receivable, preparing and analyzing financial reports, facilitating compliance with tax regulations, assisting with processing payroll, and collaborating with leadership on budget development and maintaining FSI’s legal contracts.

The ideal candidate will bring expertise in accounting and provide valuable financial insights to drive business growth.

The successful candidate will have at minimum a bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business, or related field; plus at least 3 years of experience in a similar role.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage day-to-day financial operations, including non-inventory transactions, bank deposits, accounts payable/accounts receivable, tracking profitability, managing client contracts, account reconciliations, and tax filings.
  • Prepare and deliver accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports, including balance sheets, profit and loss statements, cash flow analyses, and budget-to-actual comparisons.
  • Prepare invoices and ensure timely collection of payments.
  • Collaborate with FSI decision makers and management team on the development and implementation of financial strategies, including investment planning and financial forecasting.
  • Contribute to the development of annual budgets and long-term financial plans.
  • Assist with processing payroll and verifying timesheets for accuracy.
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Create and review legal contracts and agreements as needed.
  • Assist in maintenance and creation of company policies and procedures.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Proficiency with business and accounting software, such as Quick Books, Microsoft Office Suite, and Google Workspace.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, strategic, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Knowledge of legal contract review and preparation is a plus.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to produce accurate, timely reports.
  • Knowledge of financial practices within conservation, forestry, sustainable resource management, or related industries is a plus.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with a diverse team.
  • Able to legally work in the United States at the time of hire.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in accounting, including financial reporting and reconciliation.
  • CPA Certification, MBA, or equivalent experience.
  • Familiarity with federal and local state tax compliance requirements.
