Duties SummaryThis position is located in the Employee Assistance Office, Employee Relations Division of the Department of Human Resources Development, and is responsible for providing professional staff support services to the State’s Deferred Compensation Plan Board of Trustees (Board) to ensure that the Board fulfills its statutory and fiduciary duties and that the State’s Deferred Compensation Plan (Pan) functions smoothly and in compliance with all State and federal laws, rules and regulations (including IRS code Section 457).
This position performs complex research, development, and implementation assignments relating to administration of the Plan, including the development, coordination, and implementation of a comprehensive outreach and education program directed to all eligible State employees, and the provision of management advisory services and guidance to line personnel staff and other on matters relating to the implementation and administration of the Plan.
Minimum Qualification RequirementsLegal Authorization to Work Requirement: The State of Hawaii requires all persons seeking employment with the government of the State shall be citizens, nationals, or permanent resident aliens of the United States, or eligible under federal law for unrestricted employment in the United States.
To qualify, you must meet all of the following requirements:
- Basic Education/
Experience:
A bachelor's degree from an accredited four‑year college or university. - Specialized
Experience:
Three and one‑half years of professional work experience in one or any combination of human resources management functions; i.e., recruitment, placement, examination, position classification, pay or wage administration, employee management relations and services, employee development, human resources program development and services, labor relations, and human resources research. - Selective Certification Requirement: Of the required years of human resources management work experience required for the Human Resources Specialist V, one year must involve participation in planning, developing, coordinating and/or implementing a defined contribution plan.
- Supervisory Aptitude: Supervisory aptitude rather than actual supervisory experience may be accepted. This requirement will be considered to have been met when there is strong affirmative evidence of the necessary supervisory abilities and/or potential.
