This position services students at schools within the Hawaii District as needed and assigned by the Hawaii District Administration Office.

Salary Range: All new external applicants will be placed on the initial step of the salary range. Placement above the initial step will depend on special characteristics, critical needs, exceptional qualifications, available funds, and other relevant factors. Such appointments require prior approval. Hawaii State Department of Education employees will be placed in accordance with Department regulations.

Speech Language Pathologist IV, SR-22: $6,222.00 - $6,917.00 per month

  • Selects specific methods or strategies to assess student communicative performance.
  • Conducts activity and environmental analysis to identify barriers to communication in natural settings.
  • Analyzes, interprets, documents, and communicates findings.
  • Collaborates with team members for programming within specified time frames.
  • Provides speech-language services tailored to students' needs, updates team members, and recommends changes or rescission of services as needed.
  • Works with parents and school personnel to generalize skills and teach strategies for communicative independence.
  • Attends various meetings such as problem-solving, staff, evaluation, IEP, and district meetings.
  • Observes student performance in natural environments to identify participation barriers.
  • Collaborates on educational goals and interventions within set time frames.
  • Develops schedules and manages workload efficiently.
  • Participates in conferences and in-service training for educational personnel.
  • Consults with families and external agencies.
  • Provides data on services, progress, equipment needs, and other relevant information.
  • Analyzes performance to identify barriers between expectations and actual student performance.
  • Delivers services addressing individual and group educational needs.
  • Assists in training other educational staff.
  • Collects and reports data specific to the professional area.
  • Basic Education Requirement: Possess a master's degree in speech-language pathology or communication sciences from an accredited institution approved by ASHA.

    Experience Requirement: One year of specialized experience as a Speech-Language Pathologist, with supervisory aptitude possibly accepted in lieu of actual supervisory experience.

    Certificate and License Requirements: Valid Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) from ASHA and a valid State of Hawaii Speech Pathologist license.

    Driver's License: Must possess a current, valid driver's license.

    Experience Quality: Overall experience must demonstrate the ability to perform the duties of the position, not just the number of years.

    Salary: Based on full-time employment, including any applicable shortage and school year differentials.

    Requirements: Must meet all position requirements at the time of application. Experience can be part-time and prorated. Temporary experience must be verified and documented as specified.

    Documents: Attach all relevant supporting documents. All documents become property of the Hawaii Department of Education.

    Temporary Positions: Temporary roles may be extended or lead to permanent positions, with rights and benefits similar to permanent employees, excluding certain rights related to reduction-in-force.
