Job Description

The East Hawaii Region (EHR) of Hawaii Health Systems Corporation (HHSC), including Hilo Benioff Medical Center, Honoka'a Hospital, Kau Hospital, East Hawaii Health Clinics and Yukio Okutsu State Veterans Home, welcomes applications from students who are pursuing education in the healthcare field.

This application should be used for students who have already been accepted to the University of Hawaii at Hilo nursing program or the Hawaii Community College nursing programs. Candidates seeking credit as students pursuing Associate, Bachelor's or Master's degrees in a healthcare discipline (including nursing) outside the institutions mentioned above should apply in the “Medical Learners-Nursing/Ancillary 2025” application. Candidates seeking academic credit as students pursuing degrees as physicians or providers (APRN, physician assistant) should apply in the “Medical Learners - Physicians & Providers” application.

Applicants must meet the following requirements prior to initiating the learning experience:

1. Human Resources in-processing - $100 (to be collected after approval)

• Background Check (including FBI fingerprinting, to be completed during Human Resources visit), no earlier than 30 days before the start date of the educational program
• Drug test, no earlier than 30 days before the start date of the educational program
• Parking pass

2. Health Clearance requirements (to be completed after approval), including respirator fit test ($20 fee, to be collected after approval)

3. Participation fee may be required based on the program.

4. Completion of annual education (Health Academy) before the start date of the educational program

Applications must be submitted at least three (3) months before the educational program begins.

Applicants will be unable to begin program clinicals if requirements are not completed before start date.
