Position: AUDITOR IV - HAWAII ISLAND (OHHI)

This recruitment is being conducted under the Operation Hire Hawaii (OH‑HI) project, a targeted outreach initiative featuring an expedited hiring process, fast‑tracking qualified applicants into job opportunities throughout Hawai’i.

Salary: $5,369 to $6,535 per month (SR‑22, Step D to I). Hiring rates may vary based on availability of funds and applicant qualifications.

Duties Summary

Auditors examine accounts to render an opinion regarding the financial position and operations of governmental agencies and business entities. Work requires sound accounting judgment and the application of generally accepted auditing standards and principles.

Auditor IV performs difficult professional auditing work by independently conducting field audits of governmental books of accounts and records, or those of business entities, regulated public utilities, transportation firms, etc.; may supervise a small group of lower‑level auditors as a project leader on less complex cases; and performs other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualification Requirements
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States (citizen, national, permanent resident alien, or eligible under federal law).
  • Basic education:
    Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four‑year college or university with at least twelve semester credit hours in accounting and/or auditing subjects.
  • Specialized experience:
    Three (3) years of progressively responsible professional auditing experience requiring knowledge and application of generally accepted professional accounting and auditing principles, standards, theory and practices for analyzing and interpreting accounting books, records, or systems.
  • Driver’s license:
    Valid driver’s license required at the time of appointment.
  • Substitutions allowed:
    Relevant substitutions as described in the minimum qualification requirements will apply.
