The Project Engineer supports construction activities by planning, organizing, and implementing project processes. Responsibilities include managing communication, project KPIs, subcontract and materials management, purchasing, contract administration, and reporting. The role provides project support to a Project Manager on larger projects and manages technical and administrative staff to facilitate project management services.
Responsibilities- Develop a complete understanding of contract plans and specifications.
- Review, analyze and resolve design/construction problems, discrepancies, and interferences with the design team, project leadership, client, and contractors.
- Ensure all project engineering activities comply with company and contract requirements.
- Create and manage a contract execution plan.
- Provide technical support for construction effort, including design interpretation and constructability reviews.
- Develop, implement, and administer a document control program.
- Track submittals, maintain project logs, and provide documentation to facilitate the project.
- Represent the company in design review meetings and other coordination meetings.
- Assist in developing scopes of work to create and confirm subcontracts and vendor purchase orders.
- Oversee the development and periodic updates to the project master schedule using appropriate scheduling software.
- Review and manage changes to drawings and contract documents, quantify impacts, and distribute new issues to field.
- Prepare monthly cost projections and quarterly cash flow projections.
- Support environmental health and safety programs at the project level.
- Manage and support the project team, including direct reports and other staff.
- Develop and manage the contract closeout plan and deliverables.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree in a construction-related field or equivalent education and experience in project or field engineering.
- 7+ years of experience in the construction or engineering field.
- Proven leadership and management skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication and planning skills.
- Ability to set standards of excellence in leadership, safety, quality, and productivity.
- Proficiency in managing project engineering and related functions.
- Working knowledge of accounts payable/receivable, material control, estimating, and subcontracts.
- Regular, reliable attendance.
- Ability to work productively and meet deadlines.
- Effective professional communication and interaction.
- Work safely and follow oral and written instructions, including safety policies.
- Work overtime and weekends as required.
- Flexibility to work at various locations and conditions.
$161,000/yr – $168,000/yr (subject to variation based on education, experience, skillset, and/or location).
