Job Summary
A Tax Clerk performs specialized clerical work encompassing one or more functional areas of the real property tax program such as assessment and appraisal, delinquent tax collection, tax record searches and taxpayer services, and other related tax matters; and performs other related duties as required.
There is one (1) vacancy with the Department of Budget and Fiscal Services, Real Property Assessment Division.

Citizenship RequirementAt time of application, you must be a citizen, national or permanent resident alien of the United States or a non‑citizen eligible under federal law for unrestricted employment.
Education RequirementEquivalent to graduation from high school. Responsible work experience which demonstrated the ability to perform the essential functions of the job may be substituted for education.
Experience RequirementThree years of clerical experience, one year of which shall have been in a tax field where familiarity with tax laws, rules, regulations, and procedures was involved.
SubstitutionCollege education may substitute on a year-for-year basis for the general clerical experience requirement. There is no substitution for the one year of tax‑related clerical experience.

Desirable Experience- Previous work experience demonstrating knowledge of real property tax laws, rules, and regulations, as well as assessment and appraisal terminology and procedures.
- Experience in the use of a personal computer to input, edit, and retrieve data using databases, spreadsheets, word processing, or similar programs.
- Proficiency in using a typewriter.

Your score will be based on the quality and quantity of your education, experience and/or other related job requirements and competencies applicable to the position.
