A well-established and respected hospital system in Newark, NJ is urgently seeking a qualified Advanced Practice Provider (APP) to join their Wound Care team within the Department of Surgery – General Surgery Division. This locum assignment is to provide immediate coverage due to an ongoing maternity leave and offers the opportunity to work in a collaborative, high-acuity inpatient setting.
Start Date:
04/14/2025
End Date: 06/30/2025
Assignment Details:
- Full-time inpatient wound care role with OR involvement
- Monday through Friday, 7A-4P; no weekend or on-call responsibilities
- Patient load:
Approximately 15 patients/day, split with experienced NP and supervising MD - Work closely with an interdisciplinary team including a supervising physician and co-managing NP
- EPIC EMR for both inpatient and OR Documentation
Primary Responsibilities:
- Daily rounding on wound consults and follow-up care for established inpatients
- Assessment, documentation, and optimization for surgical wound care
- Perform debridements – both at bedside and in the OR
- Application of negative pressure wound therapy (wound vac)
- Participate in collaborative planning of wound care strategies with the surgical team.
Required Experience:
- Previous wound care experience strongly preferred
- Comfortable performing bedside and OR debridement
- able to apply and manage wound vacs
- Must function efficiently in a fast-paced, high-volume setting
