Description:

The K8 World Language (Spanish) Teacher will provide high-quality, developmentally appropriate instruction that that enables all students to acquire foundational to intermediate Spanish language proficiency in listening, speaking, reading, and writing. Through engaging instruction and cultural immersion, the teacher will foster understanding and appreciation of Spanish-speaking cultures while promoting global awareness and effective communication skills.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging, standards-based Spanish instruction for K-8 students.
• Use a variety of instructional strategies (including culturally relevant pedagogy, technology integration, and performance-based tasks) to meet diverse learner needs.
• Assess and monitor student progress, maintain accurate records, and provide timely feedback to students and families.
• Create a positive, inclusive classroom environment that fosters respect, engagement, and learner risk-taking.
• Collaborate with grade-level teams, specialists, and administrators to support student success.
• Communicate regularly with families about student progress and instructional emphases.
• Participate in professional development, staff meetings, and school events.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Principal or Director of Curriculum & Instruction.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Classroom management and organization aligned with a supportive learning environment.
• Capacity to engage students across a broad age range (K-8).
• Commitment to culturally responsive teaching.

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
• Valid Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with World Language Spanish endorsement for appropriate grade levels.
• Demonstrated proficiency in Spanish (oral and written).
• Strong understanding of language acquisition strategies and differentiated instruction for diverse learners.

Preferred:

• Experience teaching Spanish or world languages in an elementary/middle school setting.
• Experience with curriculum development and using assessment data to inform instruction.

Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, talk, hear and operate a computer, hand-held learning devices and other office equipment, reach with hands and arms, and must occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds.

Salary/Benefits

• Salary and benefits per the Collective Bargaining Agreement.
• Up to 15 years of service granted.
• Salary Range: $52,520 - $76,640 based upon educational attainment and years of service; up to 15 years of experience can be granted.
• Educational Advancement Increases: BA +15, MA, MA +15, MA +30 and MA +45.
• Health (BCBS), Dental and Vision Benefits.
• Tuition Reimbursement up to $2,700 a year.
• Paid for New Teacher Induction prior to the start of the school year.
