Public Health Nurse

The Orange County Health Department has an immediate opening for a full-time benefited clinic staff nurse.

Providing basic public health nursing care in homes, clinics, or other community service settings is the core responsibility.

Work is performed under the general supervision of a Public Health Nursing Supervisor I, with independent judgment exercised within applicable rules, regulations, policies, and procedures. Lead others may be a responsibility depending on the assignment.

• Graduation from a regionally accredited or registered college or university with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
• Graduation from a School of Professional Nursing
• Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in North Carolina by the North Carolina Board of Nursing

• All individuals hired must complete the Introduction to the Public Health Nursing course
• Possession or ability to obtain a valid driver’s license issued by the State of North Carolina for the type of vehicle or equipment operated
• Offers of employment are conditioned upon successful clearance of a background check and pre‑employment drug testing. Employment cannot commence until the employee has been cleared
• Candidates may be required to undergo fingerprinting and a criminal history background check based on the job responsibilities of the position; employment is contingent upon successful clearance through these checks
• All offers of employment are contingent upon satisfactory verification of eligibility for employment, successful completion of pre‑employment testing and/or screening, including drug testing when required, and submission and approval of all new‑hire documentation
