Role Description
This is a full-time on-site role for a Financial Controller located in Hillsborough, NC. The Financial Controller will oversee financial activities, including the preparation and analysis of financial statements, budgets, and financial reports. Responsibilities include managing accounting operations, ensuring compliance with financial regulations, and supporting strategic planning through data-driven insights. Additionally, the role involves supervising finance staff and collaborating with cross-functional teams to optimize financial performance.
ControllerCore responsibilities
- Financial reporting & close – Monthly/quarterly financials, ensuring accuracy in Net Suite (GL, reconciliations, accruals)
- Cash flow management – Forecasting, AR/AP oversight, working capital optimization
- Budgeting & variance analysis – Building annual budgets, explaining why actuals differ
- Internal controls – Preventing fraud, ensuring compliance, documenting processes
- Multi-brand P&L tracking – Keeping each brand's profitability visible and separate
- Tax coordination – Sales tax compliance, working with external CPAs on income tax Inventory/COGS accuracy – Critical for our e-commerce margins
- Oversee finance department operations, set objectives, and establish a framework for achieving goals
- Banking relationships
- Some HR finance overlap (payroll review, benefits costs)
- Strong expertise in Financial Statements, Financial Reporting, and Accounting principles
- Advanced Analytical Skills to assess financial data and provide actionable insights
- Knowledge of Finance principles and practices, including budgeting and strategic planning
- Proficiency in financial software and tools, with attention to detail
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (CPA or CMA certification is a plus)
- Excellent problem-solving, leadership, and communication skills
