Job PurposeThe Senior Accountant/Tax Analyst is responsible for both tax-related activities and core general accounting operations. Approximately 60% of the role is dedicated to general ledger management, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and the month-end close process, with the remaining 40% focusing on tax compliance, filings, and planning. This role requires a hands‑on accounting professional with strong technical expertise, practical tax experience, and the ability to operate effectively in a structured close environment.
MajorAccountabilities / Essential Duties General Ledger & Accounting Responsibilities (Approximately 60%)
- Prepare, review, and approve journal entries, accruals, adjustments, and reclassifications
- Oversee monthly account reconciliations and resolve variances
- Lead key aspects of the month‑end and year‑end close processes
- Review financial statements and supporting schedules for accuracy and compliance
- Partner cross‑functionally to validate transactions and improve accounting processes
- Manage federal, state, and local tax compliance, including income, sales and use, payroll, and related filings (with 3rd party support)
- Oversee multi‑state sales and use tax compliance and the sales tax exemption certificate process
- Monitor tax law changes and assess business impacts
- Manage state escheatment process
- Coordinate with external tax advisors and consultants
- Manage state and local tax audits and inquiries, including documentation and responses
- Maintain organized tax documentation and compliance controls
- Education and Accounting Foundation:
Demonstrated progressive experience in tax accounting and general ledger management within a complex business environment. - Tax Compliance Expertise:
Hands‑on experience managing federal, state, and local tax compliance, including income and multi‑state sales and use tax filings, with a strong working knowledge of applicable tax regulations. - General Ledger and Close Process
Experience:
Substantial experience preparing, reviewing, and approving journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting a structured month‑end and year‑end close process. - Tax Planning and Technical Analysis:
Experience supporting tax planning initiatives and performing technical tax analysis, including evaluating the impact of tax law changes on financial reporting and business operations. - Audit and External Advisor Coordination:
Experience coordinating with external tax advisors, auditors, and regulatory authorities, including managing state and local tax audits and responding to information requests. - Systems and Excel Proficiency:
Advanced proficiency with ERP and financial close systems such as SAP, Net Suite, and Flo Qast, along with strong Microsoft Excel skills used for analysis, reconciliation, and reporting. - Core

Disciplined, compliance‑driven approach to accounting and tax processes. - Professionalism:
Strong communication, organizational, and problem‑solving skills required to manage competing priorities effectively.
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Statistics, Mathematics, or Economics.
- CPA and/or public accounting experience preferred.
- 5+ years of relevant Tax and general accounting experience, preferably in manufacturing or retail.
- Hands‑on experience with tax compliance, filings, and planning.
- Experience executing cross‑functional projects and process improvements.
