Overview

The Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for developing, improving, and optimizing manufacturing processes to ensure efficient production of trailers while meeting quality, safety, cost, and delivery objectives. This role drives continuous improvement initiatives, implements Lean Manufacturing principles, and supports the introduction of new products and technologies into production.

Responsibilities
  • Process Development & Improvement
    • Design, implement, and improve production processes for welding, assembly, finishing, and material flow.
    • Develop standard work procedures and work instructions to ensure repeatability and consistency.
    • Apply Lean tools (Kaizen, 5S, Value Stream Mapping, SMED, Kanban) to reduce waste and improve and enhance efficiency.
    • Collaborate with Product Engineering to ensure manufacturability of new trailer models.
    • Participate in design reviews, providing feedback on cost-effective and efficient manufacturing methods.
    • Lead trials and validation for new equipment, tooling, and automation (e.g., robotic welding cells).
  • Data & Performance Management
    • Analyze production data to identify bottlenecks and implement corrective actions.
    • Support KPI achievement related to productivity, quality, cost, safety, and delivery.
    • Drive projects focused on reducing scrap, rework, and downtime.
    • Collaborating with production leaders, supervisors, and operators drives a sustainable lean culture.
    • Provide technical training and guidance to shop-floor teams.
    • Collaborate with EHS (Environment, Health, Safety) to ensure compliance with safety standards and ergonomic best practices.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Manufacturing Engineering, or related field.
  • 3–5 years of experience in manufacturing engineering (experience in heavy equipment, automotive, or trailer industry preferred).
  • Proven track record of implementing Lean Manufacturing principles.
