General PurposeThe Area Supervisor is a member of the Store Leadership who is responsible for a specific, assigned area of the Store as well as the general operations and supervision of the Store when functioning as the Manager on Duty. Responsibilities include opening and closing the Store, supervising Associates, and maintaining a friendly, easy‑to‑shop environment. Area Supervisors ensure proper merchandise presentation, a clean work area, and execute and supervise Company operational processes as needed.
EssentialFunctions Maintaining Safe & Secure Environment
- Practice safe behaviors in everything they do.
- Maintain high awareness on the sales floor to create a safe and secure shopping environment.
- Assume security of building including entrance/exit control, Electronic Article Surveillance (EAS) device checks, Cash Office security, armored carrier pick‑ups, and register area.
- Remove clutter and ensure clear egress to emergency exits.
- Ensure customer safety – accident prevention, reporting, and emergency procedures.
- Test all fire alarm systems as scheduled and respond to after‑hours alarms when requested.
- Treat all customers, associates, and leaders with respect.
- Demonstrate courtesy, friendliness, and professionalism at all times.
- Recognize associates using Company recognition programs.
- Represent and support the Company brand at all times.
- Maintain a professional appearance in accordance with Company Dress Code and ensure all associates adhere to the Dress Code.
- Keep all store areas clean, well‑maintained, and merchandised to standard.
- Responsible for daily trash removal.
- Ensure recovery, sizing, and markdowns meet Company standards through teaching, assigning tasks, and following up per best practice.
- Responsible for receiving merchandise trucks when needed.
- Process all merchandise with a sense of urgency.
- Handle all non‑merchandise inbound deliveries (signs, supplies, special deliveries, etc.).
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of all stockrooms.
- Assist with delivery and placement of merchandise on the sales floor once processed.
- Secure and process any back‑stock to Company policy.
- Merchandise department back‑stock and ensure day‑to‑day compliance.
- Reduce loss due to damage.
- Meet monthly presentation guidelines in the assigned area.
- Execute floor moves, signage, including promotional signing as needed.
- Perform re‑wraps as required.
- Understand and comply with the Loss Prevention Awareness Program. Maintain a large customer service presence on the sales floor and heightened Loss Prevention awareness.
- Demonstrate integrity and honesty in all interactions with associates and customers. Safeguard confidential information, cash, credit card information, and merchandise.
