Heartstrings Pet Hospice is a privately owned, rapidly growing in‑home euthanasia and end‑of‑life care practice founded on Compassion, Dignity, and Respect.

We serve the Portland, Beaverton, Tigard, Lake Oswego, Milwaukie, Gresham, OR area and Vancouver, WA. Your work is never confined by a non‑compete agreement.

Position Overview

As an Associate Veterinarian, you will provide compassionate, gentle in‑home euthanasia, hospice, and palliative care. Working independently in the field, you will receive full support from a collaborative medical leadership team, Veterinary Care Specialists, and operational infrastructure.

The role offers flexibility, autonomy, and emotional fulfillment in a low‑stress environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide in‑home euthanasia, hospice, and palliative care in a Compassionate and Fear‑Free manner.
  • Support families through the end‑of‑life process with empathy, patience, and professionalism.
  • Maintain accurate and timely medical documentation.
  • Collaborate with medical leadership and support teams.
  • Participate in ongoing training, education, and clinical development.

Requirements
  • Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM, VMD, or BVMS) from an accredited veterinary school.
  • Active or ability to obtain a veterinary license in the state of practice.
  • Valid U.S. driver’s license.
  • Availability to work some weekends as part of a rotating schedule.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs unassisted and up to 100 lbs with assistance.
  • Will undergo post‑hire background and motor‑vehicle record checks.
