Hillsboro, OR.
Hours:
6 PM – 6 AM Sun‑Tues/Alt Sat.
- Perform installation and service of low‑voltage cabling (Category 5/5e/6/7, fiber, etc.) and related equipment.
- Assist with material control to ensure required materials are available.
- Ensure quality and safety guidelines are followed.
- Ensure ticketed requests are assigned, communicated, and addressed within client SLA.
- Perform quality evaluation, diagnose, troubleshoot cabling systems, and replace/repair as necessary.
- Assist data center teams in accomplishing daily infrastructure new landings within SLA.
- Receive hardware shipments for data center equipment landings.
- Validate purchase order accuracy of hardware received.
- Unbox and recycle materials.
- Move equipment from dock to staging areas or to DC racks.
- Install or retrofit server racks – rail and shelving installation.
- Power and network cable installation and cable management.
- Scan and label installed devices (network or server).
- Designate parts identified for spare part stock inventory.
- Handle e‑waste properly and dispose of it.
- Ship and receive equipment as needed.
- Provide escort service for vendors/techs.
- Perform work request tasks from Service Now ticket system.
- Proven ability to install cable pathways, conveyances (ladder, trays, support systems).
- Knowledge of terminology for installation and service of cabling infrastructure for telecom, data, security, and wireless systems.
- Mechanical aptitude to read cable matrix blueprints and requirement documents.
- Complete physical cable installations and removals, TOR switches, pathway systems, and move equipment.
- Structured Network Cabling experience:
- Copper:
Cat5, Cat5e, Cat6, RJ45. - Fiber:
Multimode, Single‑mode, ST, SC, LC.
- Copper:
- WIFI hardware experience:
- Wireless LAN Controllers.
- Wireless Access Points.
- Networking experience:
- IP addressing, Layer 2 VLAN, etc.
- Experienced in Ethernet Switching hardware:
- Chassis, Supervisor, Line Cards, Power Supplies, etc.
- Transceiver types: SX, LX, SR, LR.
- Cable troubleshooting knowledge/experience:
- Fluke Testers:
Copper – Wire Map, Link Test, etc.;
Fiber – OTDR. - Fluke Aircheck for wireless testing.
- Fluke Testers:
- Can work in a hot enclosed environment for short periods (e.g., data center hot aisles).
- Must perform work on a ladder; ladder use required for top‑of‑rack installations.
- Can work independently and in teams of 3‑4, with flexibility.
- Must lift 35 lbs. solo.
- Willing to travel between buildings using personal car or on foot.
- May be required to walk/sit/stand/crawl/kneel for extended periods.
- Excellent customer‑service, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Knowledge of Microsoft suite (Outlook, Excel, Word) and Windows 10.
- Intermediate experience with Windows 2022 installation/configuration (features, roles, disk management, user administration, OS troubleshooting, SAN/MPIO, network management).
- Experience with server hardware (Client DL360/380 Gen8‑Gen
11, BL460 Gen8‑Gen
10, Dell Power Edge R660/R760). - Troubleshooting memory, disk, array controller battery, HBA, FlexLOM issues.
- Raid configuration/logical drives, iLO/iDRAC configuration, Servers and C7000 enclosures, Onboard Administrator, vSphere 6.5/7.0 vCenter, Microsoft Failover and NLB cluster knowledge.
- Associate or bachelor’s degree (or foreign equivalent) or 3 years of progressive experience in this specialty.
- Minimum 4 + years combined experience as a site support or infrastructure technician.
- Data Center experience required.
- Minimum 3 + years of experience in racking, stacking, connecting, and basic configuration of networking or server devices.
- Minimum 3 + years in data center, lab, or server room environments.
- Maintain network environment as part of onsite team for physical touch (Smart Hands) support of incidents/requests.
- Provide incident support with remote level 2/3 teams to resolve outages and fix issues.
- Provide service request support with remote network teams to install hardware or patch cables.
- Participate in hardware rack and stack installation, cable management, and fiber/copper patch lead installation.
