Overview
The Health Equity Community Advisory Council Consultant will guide the formation and implementation of a council of diverse community members to provide local perspectives, build trust, and advise on health equity progress, projects, policies, or programs, acting as a crucial link between the organization and the community to ensure relevance, equity, and effective engagement, focusing on sharing lived experiences, local knowledge, and stakeholder insights.
This role collaborates with and provides advice and expertise to internal and external stakeholders to implement governance, policies, operational processes, data workflows, community procedures, and controls to monitor program effectiveness and support continuous improvement efforts related to health equity.
This position is expected to be retained for at least six months. The expected compensation range is between $5,000 - $15,000 per month depending on experience.
Essential Position Functions
- Design & Setup:
Develop the council's charter, structure, recruitment strategy, and training. - Facilitation:
Organize meetings, manage communication, and guide discussions between the council and organization. - Recruitment:
Help identify and recruit diverse members representing various community segments (e.g., residents, businesses, specific groups). - Expectation Setting:
Create clear "job descriptions" for members, defining roles, goals, expectations, responsibilities, and authority. - Ongoing Management:
Provide "backbone support" to maintain momentum and ensure value for both the council and the organization. - Governance and Operations:
Provide expertise on governance model and Council operations, including internal committee(s), operational processes, information and data to fulfill duties, etc. - Materials, data, and decision-making:
Development of data reports and relevant information (materials) and presentations for the purposes of the CAC duties. - Compliance and Alignment:
Assist in organizing governance structure and accountability controls to ensure alignment between CAC and NCQA Health Equity requirements and support the development of annual reports and related requirements.
Education & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in business, healthcare administration, organizational development, public health, or related field. Minimum 8 years of work experience in a healthcare setting OR equivalent combination of education and experience which will provide the ability to perform the essential functions of the position.
Licenses, Certificates, & Registrations
- NCQA health equity accreditation and health plans is strongly preferred.
- Ability to lead cross-functional teams.
- Deep understanding of health equity, social determinants of health, and systemic racism.
- Data collection, program evaluation, and health disparity analysis
Expected hiring range for this position depending on experience (annual salary): $60,000 USD - $180,000 USD
Compensation
The actual base pay offered to the successful candidate will be based on multiple factors, including but not limited to education, job-related knowledge/skills, experience, geographical location, and internal equity.
This position is also eligible for incentive pay in accordance with the terms of the Company’s plan.

PTO:
Eligible employees will accrue a minimum of 120 PTO hours per employment year in addition to seven paid holidays annually. The Company’s PTO program combines vacation and sick leave, which is more generous than Washington State’s Sick Leave Law. Employees in part-time roles working less than 40 hours per week will accrue PTO on a pro-rated basis.
