Clinical Supervisor, Crisis
Provides clinical and administrative oversight to various crisis programs. This includes day‑to‑day operations and support to various crisis programs. Provides clinical services when needed.
LocationThis position is based out of Life Works NW's Hawthorn site.
Days/HoursSunday – Thursday 8:00 am – 4:30 pm
Shift Differential$7.50 per hour shift differential for Sunday hours.
Pay/Benefits$81,216 starting annual salary, plus full benefits.
Essential Responsibilities- Provides on‑shift support and consultation for a multi‑disciplinary team. Suggests solutions in complex cases.
- Responds to emergency situations involving children and adults experiencing mental health crisis.
- Provides behavioral health risk assessments and crisis intervention at the clinic in an office setting and in the community by mobile response as needed.
- Performs client evaluations and risk assessments as needed.
- Assists team members by helping to resolve difficult emergency situations and serves as back‑up for other staff when needed.
- Encourages and participates in team consultation culture.
- Effectively communicates administrative and clinical direction.
- Provides regular supervision (1–2 hours per month depending on staff full‑time equivalent) to direct reports. Maintains accurate documentation of supervisory meetings.
- Provides assistance to employees with work issues including establishing clear expectations regarding performance and training.
- Provides support and attention to employee successes and addresses performance issues promptly and effectively.
- Responsible for performance evaluations and performance concerns for program area.
- Coordinates hiring process including orientation and training for program.
- Monitors employee productivity, documentation and insurance authorizations.
- Performs day‑to‑day quality management tasks (e.g., chart audits, utilization management).
- Provides crisis consultation and intervention for program area and other agency programs as needed.
- Participates in program development.
- May provide training to community partners, agency staff and others.
- Provides direct service including client evaluations, risk assessments, case management and coordination of care.
- Document and maintain client records to ensure compliance with agency and contract guidelines and confidentiality.
- Completes required program reports including those needed for supervisory responsibilities timely and accurately.
- Participates in and promotes a culture of feedback at the agency by eliciting feedback to promote professional growth and assess work effectiveness.
- Supports staff's use of Feedback‑Informed Treatment service‑delivery approach to obtain and review feedback from clients regarding the fit and effectiveness of the services provided to them.
- Resolves grievances and complaints.
- Meets expectations for being an effective supervisor and team member.
- May network with community providers and partners.
- May be asked to provide licensure supervision (if eligible).
- May be required to travel between sites or in the community and/or transport clients.
- Master's degree in Social Work, Psychology, Counseling, or a Mental Health related field.
- Valid and active QMHP credential certification through MHACBO or a valid and active status (licensed or registered intern) with an approved Oregon licensing board.
- Position may require a LPC or LCSW.
- Two years of post‑graduate clinical experience in a mental health treatment setting. Preferred to include a broad range of clinical interventions and mental health assessments with children and family members or individuals with severe and persistent mental illness.
- Demonstrated ability to conduct mental health assessment, including identifying precipitating events, gathering histories of mental and physical health, alcohol and other drug use, past mental health services and criminal justice contacts, assessing family, social and working relationships and conducting a mental status examination; identifying appropriate DSM diagnosis; working with the individual to create a safety plan; and providing appropriate referrals to address chemical dependency and/or mental health concerns.
