The Role and Impact:
As a Product Failure Analysis Technician, you will play a key role in Intel's commitment to delivering world‑class silicon process technology and high‑volume manufacturing. You will be instrumental in identifying and analyzing electrical, thermal, mechanical package, or component failures. By performing physical failure analysis using state‑of‑the‑art techniques such as electron microscopy imaging, you will contribute to improving product yield, quality, and reliability.
Your work will directly impact Intel's ability to innovate and maintain leadership in semiconductor technology, ensuring the reliability of cutting‑edge products used by millions worldwide.
- Conduct hands‑on analysis to identify physical failure modes using lab techniques such as micro‑cleaving, ion milling, mechanical polishing, omni‑probing, and advanced imaging methods like SEM, EDX, TEM, and FIB.
- Perform material analysis and failure analysis to support silicon process development and high‑volume production.
- Prepare samples to isolate faults and establish root causes for product malfunctions.
- Track and update failure analysis cases daily, ensuring accurate documentation and timely follow‑up.
- Collaborate with manufacturing teams to implement root‑cause fixes and prevent malfunction recurrence.
- Support and sustain lab equipment, ensuring analytical capabilities meet advanced transistor and interconnect technology needs.
- Participate in automation and improvement of failure analysis tools and methodologies, developing new techniques and sharing best‑known methods (BKM) across teams.
- Support new process and product transfer to high‑volume manufacturing factories during production startup.
You must possess the below minimum education requirements and minimum required qualifications to be initially considered for this position. Relevant experience can be obtained through schoolwork, classes, project work, internships, and/or military experience. Additional preferred qualifications are in addition to the minimum requirements and are considered a plus factor in identifying top candidates. This position is not eligible for Intel immigration sponsorship.
Minimum Qualifications- Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Biology/Biochemistry, Physics, Material Science, Microelectronics, or other related scientific or engineering fields.

- Associate’s Degree in Chemistry, Biology/Biochemistry, Physics, Material Science, Microelectronics, or other related scientific or engineering fields with 3+ years of experience in a related technical field - -OR
- High School diploma/GED with 8+ years of experience in related technical field
- 1+ year of hands‑on experience with electron or ion beam‑based imaging techniques.
- Experience in troubleshooting and repairing lab equipment.
- Strong communication skills and disciplined execution in fast‑paced laboratory environments.
- Familiarity with semiconductor equipment and test tool development and maintenance.
- Basic knowledge of vacuum systems and imaging sample preparation.
- Proficiency in electron or ion beam‑based techniques such as SEM, EDX, TEM, and FIB.
