Your Next Opportunity

The Tool Install/Unit Rate Estimator is responsible for preparing unit‑rate takeoffs and reconciling costs using established rates and processes. The role supports the Project Management team in controlling construction costs through accurate pricing and diligent data review.

What You’ll Do
  • Review proposal specifications and drawings to determine scope of work and required contents of the estimate.
  • Prepare estimates by calculating complete takeoffs using a predetermined estimating program and reviewing printouts for accuracy.
  • Perform daily audits at the jobsite to assist in takeoff preparation.
  • Request quotes from suppliers for equipment and materials as directed by Project Management.
  • Identify qualified suppliers/subcontractors and solicit quotes, reviewing completeness with plans and specifications and alignment with unit‑rate compensation.
  • Meet with Project Management to review takeoffs and resolve discrepancies between actual hours and takeoff hours.
  • Ensure timely completion of all client‑required documents.
  • Draft scope‑letter inclusions, exclusions, and clarifications for estimates as directed by Project Management.
  • Maintain files of working and final documents throughout the entire process for each scope of work.
  • The duties and responsibilities are intended to describe the general nature and scope of work. Other duties may be assigned based on the position’s role within the business unit.
What You’ll Need To Be Successful
  • Advanced knowledge of assigned discipline, construction technology, estimating techniques, and cost control.
  • Ability to interpret computerized cost data and systems.
  • Proficiency in arithmetic calculations required for estimating.
  • Skill in reading and interpreting blueprints and engineering design drawings.
  • Customer‑focused mindset to meet needs, expectations, and requirements.
  • Problem‑solving skills for complex, variable situations.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, Access, etc.).
  • Prioritization and multitasking while managing changing priorities.
  • Ability to work under pressure with a positive attitude.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Self‑motivated, proactive, and an effective team player.
  • Professional interaction with all levels of employees, vendors, and clients.
What You Bring To Us
  • Minimum two years’ experience estimating commercial construction projects, preferably in electrical construction.
  • Experience estimating unit‑rate contracts preferred.
  • Combination of education, training, and relevant experience.
Working Conditions
  • General work environment involves sitting, standing, walking, typing, carrying, pushing, and bending. Work is primarily indoors with varying environmental conditions, such as fluorescent lighting and air conditioning.
  • The position is located on a project site and may involve field audits and long walks.
  • Typical noise level is low to medium; occasionally loud on a job site.
  • Occasional lifting of up to 30 lbs.
