Position Title: Migrant Education Academic Support Tutor
Department: Instructional Services
Location: Washington Service Center - serving four county area
Reports To: Program Administrator
Compensation: Licensed Salary Schedule, Per negotiated contract (Range: $56530 - $104459 annually: DOE; Pro-rated for actual FTE worked)
FTE: 10-15 hour(s) per week, including evenings and weekends

General DescriptionIn alignment with the NWRESD's mission statement, this licensed position provides targeted academic instruction to migrant students in grades K-12, while prioritizing students in grades 6-12 during program initiation. This position focuses on one-to-one and small group tutoring designed to address learning gaps, support credit accrual, and promote academic success for highly mobile students. The tutor works collaboratively with students, families, and school staff to deliver culturally responsive, standards-aligned instruction that supports students' academic goals, graduation pathways, and postsecondary readiness.
Tutoring services may include support in core academic subjects, skill development, and study strategies, with instruction tailored to individual student needs. The tutor uses communication with school staff, ongoing assessment and progress monitoring to adjust instruction and ensure meaningful academic growth while maintaining compliance with Migrant Education Program (MEP) requirements.
This position also includes family outreach and student caseload management in collaboration with MEP staff. The MEP Academic Support Tutor will also be responsible for maintaining and prioritizing student contact lists, coordinating tutoring schedules, and documenting services provided. The tutor assists families with onboarding students and families by communicating available services in a culturally and linguistically responsive manner and serving as a point of contact for academic support.

Required
- Valid Oregon teacher's license with appropriate subject area endorsement
- Experience with a variety of age-appropriate instructional, assessment, and student management strategies that reflect current research on best practices.
- Master's degree preferred
- Spanish Bilingual and biliteracy skills required
- Valid Driver's License; available transportation and proof of auto insurance
- Possession of CPR/First Aid certification or the ability to obtain preferred
- Demonstrate a commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging through continuous development, modeling inclusive behaviors, and proactively managing bias
- Ability to effectively manage and supervise students and their work
- Knowledge of state and federal education laws and of student and staff rights
- Ability to exhibit professionalism and effective human relations
- Confer regularly with immediate supervisor
- Proficient in the use of computer and internet-based applications, including but not limited to email, internet software, Google Suite, and word processing (MS Word)
