Position Title: Migrant Education Academic Support Tutor
Department: Instructional Services
Location: Washington Service Center – serving a four‑county area
Reports To: Program Administrator
Compensation: Licensed Salary Schedule, per negotiated contract (annual range: $56,530 – $104,459, DOE; pro‑rated for actual FTE)
FTE: 10‑15 hours per week, including evenings and weekends
Note: Position is temporary through 9 30 ’26.

General Description: This licensed position provides targeted academic instruction to migrant students in grades K‑12, prioritizing grades 6‑12 during program initiation. The tutor conducts one‑to‑one and small‑group sessions to address learning gaps, support credit accrual, and promote academic success for highly mobile students. The role includes culturally responsive, standards‑aligned instruction and collaboration with students, families, and school staff.
The tutor may provide core subject support, skill development, and study strategies, using ongoing assessment to adjust instruction. The position also involves family outreach, caseload management, and documentation of services. The tutor coordinates schedules, maintains contact lists, and serves as a primary academic contact for families.
Qualifications:
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
- Valid Oregon teacher’s license with appropriate subject‑area endorsement.
- Experience with age‑appropriate instructional, assessment, and student‑management strategies informed by current research.
- Master’s degree preferred.
- Spanish bilingual and biliteracy skills required.
- Valid driver’s license; proof of auto insurance and available transportation.
- CPR/First Aid certification or ability to obtain one.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging.
- Ability to manage and supervise students and their work.
- Knowledge of state and federal education laws and student/staff rights.
- Professionalism and effective human relations.
- Regular conference with immediate supervisor.
- Proficiency with computer and internet applications (email, Google Suite, MS Word).
- Effective verbal and written communication; data‑driven instruction.
- Experience working with students exhibiting behavioral or emotional disorders.
- Adherence to NWRESD policies, procedures, and professional standards.
- Respect for confidentiality and privacy.
- Capability to direct work of other staff members (preferred).
- Experience with students having behavioral needs preferred.
- Willingness to travel to Clatsop, Columbia, Tillamook, and Washington counties.
Essential Functions:
- Develop and deliver instruction aligned with Oregon state standards.
- Assess student progress, keep records, provide reports, and communicate with families.
- Create an appropriate learning environment and enforce fair behavior rules.
- Differential curriculum for diverse learning needs.
- Apply varied instructional techniques to meet learner needs.
- Participate in decision making with the educational team.
- Use appropriate strategies, materials, and resources to achieve instructional goals.
- Maintain effective communication with team members, families, colleagues, and administrators.
- Support administration in implementing student‑life policies and rules.
- Collaborate and communicate with staff and agency partners at all levels.
- Assist other teachers in curriculum implementation.
- Partner with school personnel, parents, and community agencies to improve student outcomes.
- Meet performance standards set in the District’s Evaluation Handbook.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
