The Outdoor School Field Instructors assume responsibility for the planning and implementation of field-based environmental education programs at residential Outdoor Science School sites. This position is overnight, requiring the employee to live on-site during the work week Monday–Friday. Room and board are provided. Our program operates at multiple sites in Northwest Oregon near the following communities:
Vernonia, Salem, Cloverdale, Rockaway Beach, and Welches. Employee will be compensated 50 hours per week. Weekly schedule varies from Monday–Friday or Sunday–Thursday. Most work weeks are 5 days. Due to the seasonal camp-based nature of this position, it is exempt for state overtime wage regulations.
- College graduate or equivalent amount of directly related experience.
- Ability and desire to work with children and be outdoors.
- Prior work and/or volunteer experience in a teaching capacity is preferred.
- Training, knowledge, and previous work experience with relevant subject matter.
- Ability to establish and maintain healthy relationships in a residential work environment.
