Multilingual Specialist/Migrant Education Teacher (1.0 FTE)
Join the Hillsboro School District at South Meadows Middle School as a Multilingual Specialist/Migrant Education Teacher. In this temporary 1.0 FTE position, you will be at the heart of our mission to promote and develop successful program services for our diverse student body. You will deliver critical English Language Development (ELD) instruction, support Spanish literacy, and provide supplemental Migrant Education tutorial services.
We are looking for a dedicated educator who thrives in a collaborative environment and is passionate about ensuring all students—especially English Learners and migrant students—have equitable access to high-quality education.
Key Responsibilities- Instructional Leadership:
Deliver appropriate instruction for active English Learners (ELs) and provide sheltered instruction supports to ensure access to general education content. - Program Management:
Manage a monthly caseload and maintain regular communication with migrant students, their families, and district staff. - Assessment & Monitoring:
Conduct language proficiency testing (e.g., ELPA Summative) and track student progress through formative assessments and goal setting. - Collaboration:
Maintain strong relationships with staff, students, and families while developing schedules and lessons for paraprofessionals. - Compliance:
Perform all duties in accordance with District policies, state/federal guidelines, and the teacher contract.
- Licensure: A valid State of Oregon Teaching License appropriate for the position.
- Endorsement:
Must hold an ESOL Endorsement. - Education:
Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution. - Skills:
Ability to follow complex instructions, maintain confidential information, and work effectively with people from diverse backgrounds.
- Bilingual Proficiency:
Spanish language skills are highly preferred to support Spanish literacy and family communication. - Monthly Bilingual Stipend for employees who successfully complete the language assessment for Spanish or Vietnamese.
- Salary Range: $54,939 – $113,296 Per Year (based on experience and salary agreement).
- Schedule:
8:00 AM – 4:00 PM (10-Month Calendar). - Start Date:
February 3, 2026.
