Respiratory Therapist - PRN to join our team. In this role, you will assess, instruct, and provide support to patients in need of respiratory equipment and services, ensuring that their medical needs are met with high standards of care.

  • Complies with all applicable company policies, procedures, and patient protocols. Comply with all current government regulations and professional standards respecting patient care.
  • Assesses the need of the patient/client and the best choice of equipment and/or services to meet those needs.
  • Involves the patient/client and/or family, caregiver in the selection process.
  • Instructs patients/clients in the proper use and care of the ordered equipment according to the written policies and procedures for that equipment.
  • Communicates with the patient's/client's physician on changes in condition and/or needs and carries out adjustments to the Plan of Care/Treatment.
  • Completes patient/client account paperwork, including Plan of Care/Treatment and assessments. Maintain, implement, and update patient’s plan of care and records according to Advent Home Medical policy.
  • Acts as a liaison between the company and the patient/client, family, caregiver, physician, and other healthcare agencies and staff on the case.
  • Conducts, participates, and attends educational meetings and seminars for healthcare workers, patients/clients, families, caregivers, physicians, and interested community members on areas of need.
  • Assists in resolving patient equipment problems of an immediate or “emergency” nature.
  • Assists with preventive maintenance, required service checks, and patient/environmental assessment of home respiratory equipment during scheduled visits to patients.
  • Provides patients with Clinical Respiratory Services as ordered by physician including care planning, clinical assessments, discharge planning, patient/caregiver training, therapy administration, education regarding diagnosis and symptom management to reduce hospital readmissions.
  • Monitors respiratory supply levels and place orders to replenish stock as approved by Sr. Warehouse Manager.
  • Assumes on-call responsibilities during non-business hours of at least 2 days/nights per month in accordance with the company’s policy.
  • Develops technical knowledge of the respiratory products/services offered by the company and be prepared to provide information about it to others upon request.
  • Educates fellow company employees on the features and benefits of respiratory equipment, including appropriate safety features.
  • Participates in educational and professional programs and/or review professional literature on an ongoing basis; to maintain knowledge and competency in current and developing techniques, professional standards, and the DME products and services offered by the company.
  • Assumes full responsibility for his/her own actions, professional skills, and attitudes.
  • Maintains current licensure in all states where patient care will be provided.
  • Markets the company in a positive and professional manner.
  • Will work a minimum of 1 day per pay period.
  • Will either have regular scheduled days of work or will work with management to schedule workdays at least 2 weeks in advance, but preferably 30 days in advance.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position with typical working hours of 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday. Hours and work shifts may change in accordance with business needs.

Education

Licensed Respiratory Therapist / Graduate of an accredited respiratory care program

Required Skills & Abilities
  • Two-year hospital based respiratory care experience preferred.
  • One year’s home care experience preferred.
  • Thorough knowledge and skill related to respiratory care field.
  • Ability to effectively supervise clinical personnel.
