Role

Lockheed Martin Space is looking for an Embedded Software Engineer Senior Staff (Level
5) to join our Space Software Product Line (SSPL) organization and help lead an embedded software team responsible for deploying space and missile flight software to multiple programs and projects. The Software Engineer Senior Staff will be responsible for designing, architecting, and delivering cyber‑secure flight software for space and missile programs. Drive systems‑level hardware software integration, define reusable software frameworks, and implement cyber control measures (secure boot, encryption, integrity monitoring) that meet DoD security standards.

Own technical roadmaps, risk management, and milestone delivery for SDA initiatives, while mentoring engineers and collaborating with program stakeholders.

Basic Qualifications
  • B.S. (or higher) in Electrical/Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related discipline.
  • Ten+years of experience developing safety critical, real time embedded software
  • Demonstrated technical leadership or product ownership for software projects (leading teams, defining architecture, driving deliveries).
  • Familiarity with Agile development methodologies and experience working on Scrum teams.
  • Proven ability to present complex technical information to both technical and non technical audiences.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. security clearance.
  • Proficiency in C/C++, Python, Memory‑safe Languages (i.e. Rust)
  • Experience with RTOS environments (e.g., VxWorks, UNIX, Linux) and hardware software co‑design.
Desired Skills
  • Experience deploying embedded flight software to hardware test environments or higher level assembly integration and test
  • Strong technical reporting, documentation, and communication skills.
  • Preference given to candidates living within close proximity to a LM facility
  • Experience with Atlassian Tools including JIRA
  • Experience with Agile methodologies
  • Experience with Git, Git Lab, and CI/CD concepts
  • Experience with Secure Boot, Zero Trust Architecture, Government‑Owned/ Contractor‑Operated (GOCO)
  • Experience with RMF Cyber Controls and the following government standards: CSNA 2.0, DoDI 8510.01, CNSSI 1200, CNSSP 12, CNSSP 15, CNSSP 1253, CNSSP 1254, NIST SP 800.
  • Experience with Secure Coding Standards, Software Fuzzing, and Vulnerability Management
  • TS/SCI, Top Secret, or DoD Secret Clearance
Security Clearance

This position requires a government security clearance, you must be a U.S. Citizen for consideration. Clearance Level: Top Secret.
