Job Opportunity:
Front Desk Attendant & Justice Court Cashier

Highland City is seeking a professional, community-minded individual to join our Administration team in the Finance-Treasury department. As the first line of contact for our residents, you will play a crucial role in delivering public services and supporting city operations.

Position Overview
  • Hiring Salary: $19.34 – $24.17 per hour (Starting pay is generally at the lower end of the range).

  • Schedule: Monday – Thursday, 2:00 PM – 6:00 PM.

  • Status: Part-time.

  • Reports To: City Treasurer.

Key Responsibilities

You will perform a variety of routine clerical duties and provide administrative support across several city functions:

  • Customer Service: Serve as the primary point of contact at the front counter and over the phone. You will respond to inquiries, educate the public on city policies, and direct callers to the appropriate staff.

  • Financial Transactions: Receive and receipt payments for utilities, licenses, building permits, and court cases.

  • Utility Support: Assist with account setups, terminations, temporary disconnects, and potential auditing or refund processing.

  • Facility Reservations: Manage bookings for city park pavilions, fields, and buildings, including calendar management and invoicing.

  • Administrative Support: Assist with document management (scanning, filing, shredding), cemetery clerical work, building permitting, and business licensing.

Qualifications
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent.

  • Experience: Two (2) years of general clerical and customer service experience.

    • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

  • Technical

    Skills:

    Proficiency in Microsoft Windows environment, word processing, and spreadsheet software. Ability to operate standard office equipment and perform basic mathematical calculations.

  • Interpersonal

    Skills:

    Ability to maintain a positive public image and communicate effectively, even when dealing with irate customers.

Work Environment
  • This role operates in a typical office setting with climate controls.

  • Physical requirements include walking, standing, stooping, sitting, and light lifting.

  • Essential functions require talking, hearing, seeing, and finger dexterity.
