Under the direction of the Senior Manager, Drop & Count, the Assistant Manager, Drop & Count, directs, plans, controls and supervises the activities of the drop & count supervisors. Oversees the supervisors with the daily reconciliation paperwork for the Drop, ATM, CDU, soft and chip counts to ensure proper preparation, posting to the on-line accounting system and/or manual completion, including investigation and documentation of all discrepancies.

Follows all policy and procedures and ensures compliance with the Gaming Commission’s Tribal Gaming Minimum Internal Controls (TICS) and the Gaming Commission Regulations (GCR). Advises management on needed actions and ensures all Drop & Count staff follow these requirements. Assists in ordering and maintaining supplies and all necessary equipment for the operation of the Drop & Count.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities
  • Ensures day-to-day operations of the drop & counts for various cost centers are completed. Assists in monitoring and analyzing department operations to develop more efficient procedures and use of resources while maintaining accuracy; develops and implements new procedures and features to enhance workflow; and assists in the preparation of the department budget. Reviews and confirms purchasing of count room supplies and equipment essential for operation.

    Supports special projects and workflow process improvements.
  • Maintains integrity of the count by ensuring compliance with operational procedures, processes and regulations. Inputs soft count and other financial data into the assigned computer system and maintains automated records; ensures data accuracy. Maintains records and logs related to drop & soft count, money totals, scheduled zones, discrepancies, daily activities and assigned duties.
  • Works with each direct report to establish goals and objectives for the year. Collaborates to define clear, measurable, and aligned goals; monitors and advises on progress to enhance staff development. Completes observations and evaluations as required. Provides training to new and existing staff as needed. Ensures timely and accurate processing of hours worked, including regular time, overtime, PTO, and holidays. Makes corrections for discrepancies such as missed punches, incorrect job codes, or unapproved overtime before payroll deadlines.
  • In the absence of a Drop & Count Supervisor or Drop & Count Staff, able to complete vital responsibilities.
  • Performs other duties as assigned to support the efficient operation of the department.
Supervisory Responsibilities

Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring and training employees; planning, assigning, reviewing and directing work; evaluating and appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. Makes hiring decisions and designs individual development plans with succession planning in mind for all key roles.

Education, Experience And Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Business Administration is required.
  • Minimum three (3) years experience working in a Casino cage and/or count room with high volumes of cash required.
  • Minimum three (3) years Supervisory experience preferred.
  • Related, relevant, and/or direct experience may be considered in lieu of minimum educational requirements indicated above.
Knowledge,

Skills And Abilities

(KSA)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
  • Requires eye and hand coordination and manual dexterity; ability to distinguish letters, numbers and symbols; experience using a computer, coin counter, calculator, copier and telephone.
  • Obtains and demonstrates a thorough understanding of state and federal regulations pertaining to the drop & count process.
Licenses, Certifications And Registrations
  • At the discretion of the San Manuel Tribal Gaming Commission, you may be required to obtain and maintain a gaming license.
  • No driving responsibilities:
    Role does not require a driver’s license or insurance.
