Job Summary

The role of Head of Reward is to design, develop, communicate and deliver an effective and efficient Total Reward Strategy to support Taylor Wimpey’s strategic agenda and ensure they continue to attract, retain and motivate exceptional, engaged talent throughout the business.

The Head of Reward plays a pivotal role in the Rem Co processes, provides reward expertise and advice to the Executive Leadership Team, and works closely with the Group Finance Director and Chair of the Trustees of the DB pension scheme.

The majority of the Reward team are based in Warwick and the Taylor Wimpey Headquarters are in High Wycombe, by preference the Head of Reward will spend one day a week in each location.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Lead and develop a team of four direct reports: a Reward & Pensions Manager, Reward Manager, Benefits Manager and Reward Advisor
  • Manage the Rem Co cycles, preparing papers, setting agendas, attending meetings and delivering on the outcomes
  • Preparation of the Directors Remuneration Report
  • Work with the Group Finance Director and Chair of the Trustees to deliver the pensions strategy and manage the function strategically and operationally for the Company and the Trustees
  • Drive the organisation reward policy review process in line with best practice
  • Develop operational and embed plans to utilise digital capabilities and ensure reward engagement across the organisation
  • Ensure policies and practices proactively drive retention across the organisation with a strong focus on key job roles and skills as well as employees key to delivering on the company strategy
  • Provide consultancy advice to business facing HR teams and the Executive Leadership team
  • Manage the delivery of the annual performance and reward cycle
  • Ensure a robust framework for regulatory and operational compliance for Reward
  • Manage communication processes for all reward interventions across the business
  • Maintain industry specific Reward knowledge to develop reward strategies and operational plans as well as ensuring stakeholders are kept informed of trends
Experience, Qualifications, Technical Requirements
  • Financially literate and able to work at Board and Group Exec level
  • Experience of working at a senior level within the reward function of a UK listed business.

    This would include demonstrable experience of working with PLC boards and Remco chairs including setting challenging short and long term targets, as well as managing and partnering with external advisors to Remco.
  • Experience of delivering Remuneration Policy reviews including experience of external messaging with shareholders and shareholder consultations including preparation of Directors Remuneration Report.
  • Strategic, operational and executive Reward experience at the leadership level
  • A clear understanding of Rem Co processes and procedures
  • A good understanding of the management of DB Pensions schemes
  • Experience of designing and implementing reward strategies
  • Active member of the UK plc reward community
