The Shire of Wagin is committed to providing safe, sustainable and resilient communities for our residents, businesses and visitors. With a strong focus on community safety and environmental stewardship, we work in partnership with landholders, volunteer brigades and government agencies to actively manage bushfire risk.
We are seeking a qualified and experienced professional to join the organisation in the full-time role of Bushfire Risk Mitigation Coordinator. This role is pivotal in planning, implementing and monitoring bushfire risk mitigation programs in line with legislative requirements, strategic objectives, and best practice standards. Your work will help reduce bushfire risk while safeguarding environmental values and biodiversity.
The role will be hosted by the Shire of Wagin for the duration of the DFES funding grant and will deliver bushfire risk mitigation activities across Wagin and other local government areas. The successful applicant will be based at the DFES office in High Wycombe, with regular travel to Wagin and other regions as required.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the coordination and delivery of bushfire risk mitigation programs and projects
- Collaborate with internal teams, contractors, government agencies, industry representatives, and landowners
- Apply contemporary risk management principles to identify, assess and treat bushfire risks
- Ensure mitigation activities balance community safety with conservation outcomes

Key Requirements:
- Current unrestricted C Class Western Australian Driver's Licence
- Demonstrated experience in emergency management and bushfire risk management
- Proven ability to implement bushfire mitigation strategies
- Strong understanding of risk management principles
