Job Title: SEN Tutor - High Wycombe

We are currently recruiting a passionate and resilient SEN Tutor to support learners in High Wycombe who are currently accessing education through an alternative provision. This SEN Tutor role in High Wycombe focuses on supporting children who experience Emotional Based School Avoidance (EBSA), social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs, and trauma-related barriers to learning.

As an SEN Tutor, you will work with learners on a 1:1 or small group basis in High Wycombe, delivering tailored sessions designed to rebuild confidence, engagement, and a positive relationship with education. Sessions typically run in flexible 2-3 hour blocks, allowing the SEN Tutor to provide meaningful, structured support while adapting to the learner's emotional needs.

This role would suit an experienced SEN Tutor, but we are also keen to speak with experienced Teaching Assistants based in High Wycombe who have strong SEN experience, relevant life experience, and a trauma-informed approach.

The successful SEN Tutor will be supporting learners in High Wycombe who may have experienced disrupted education, anxiety around school attendance, or complex emotional needs. As a SEN Tutor, your ability to build trust, establish consistent routines, and adapt learning to each individual learner will be key.

Pay: 20- 30 per hour depending on experience and qualifications.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver personalised tutoring sessions
  • Support learners with EBSA, SEMH needs, and trauma-related challenges
  • Work closely with the alternative provision and wider support teams
  • Adapt learning strategies to meet individual emotional and educational needs
  • Provide engaging sessions in 2-3 hour blocks that encourage re-engagement with learning

Requirements:

  • Experience working as an SEN Tutor, Teaching Assistant, or similar support role
  • Strong understanding of SEMH needs, trauma-informed practice, and EBSA
  • Experience supporting children with special educational needs
  • Ability to build positive, trusting relationships with learners
  • A flexible and compassionate approach to supporting vulnerable young people

This opportunity in is ideal for professionals who are passionate about supporting learners outside of traditional classroom settings and making a meaningful difference in their educational journey.

If you are an experienced SEN Tutor or Teaching Assistant in with a trauma-informed approach and a passion for supporting young people with SEMH needs, we would love to hear from you.
