To plan and deliver high-quality, inclusive teaching that meets the diverse needs of pupils with complex needs and challenging behaviours,

Responsibilities
  • Plan and deliver engaging, evidence-informed lessons that meet the individual needs of pupils, including those with SEND and trauma histories.
  • Use assessment data to monitor pupil progress and adapt teaching strategies accordingly.
  • Promote pupils' social, emotional, and academic development through trauma-informed and therapeutic approaches.
  • Maintain high expectations for behaviour and learning, consistent with the school's behaviour policy and Staff Code of Conduct.
  • Collaborate with teaching assistants and specialist staff to provide effective support.
Qualifications
  • Hold QTS or QTLS.
  • Proven experience teaching pupils with complex needs and challenging behaviour.
  • Strong understanding of curriculum, assessment, and behaviour management in special education settings.
  • Ability to plan, deliver, and assess effective teaching and learning.
  • Resilience, empathy, adaptability, and passion for supporting vulnerable pupils.

Unity College follows a therapeutic model offering a safe, secure and friendly environment for pupils.

Unity college, provides placements for pupils who reside in nearby residential homes. In order to meet the diverse needs of the young people at Unity College we ensure that the staff to pupil ratio is high, with typically a class comprising of no more than 4 pupils. Each class is staffed by at least one teacher and a Teaching Assistant. School tours are welcomed as part of the interview process.

Salary: £27,456- £43,014
