This role is within the College of Creative Arts, Technology and Engineering, teaching on our BA (Hons) SFX Props and Model making for Film and TV and MA Special Effects for Film and TV. You will also be expected to lead or co-lead one or both of these programmes.

What We Look For

Role requirements are versatile making skills across a range of materials and processes. We welcome applicants from diverse backgrounds and encourage you to apply even if you don’t meet every criterion. We are particularly looking for experience in:

  • Set Dec
  • Hand props
  • Basic metalwork, including MIG welding
  • Metal lathe operation
  • General woodwork and carpentry
  • Fib reglassing
  • Foam use and material knowledge (PU foams, rubbers, plastics)
  • Vac forming
  • Moulding and casting techniques, including gun moulds
  • Sculpting skills
  • CAD experience
  • 3D modelling and some experience with 3D printing technologies
  • Painting, ageing, and surface finishing
  • Weapons creation
  • Leather work
  • Confident use of power tools and workshop equipment
  • Pattern making
