Humanities Teacher Needed for an SEMH School in High Wycombe
SEMH School (Secondary | Ages 11–18)
We are seeking a committed and resilient Humanities Teacher to join a supportive and forward-thinking SEMH school in High Wycombe, working with students aged 11–18 (KS3 and KS4). This is a temp maternity cover position, ideal for an educator who thrives in small-group teaching and understands the importance of relational practice when supporting pupils with social, emotional, and mental health needs.
About the Role
As a Humanities Teacher, you will deliver engaging and accessible Humanities lessons (such as History, Geography, and/or Religious Studies) to small classes of no more than six learners. The successful candidate will be able to adapt lessons, differentiate effectively, and provide structure, consistency, and calm for students with complex SEMH needs.

Key Responsibilities
Plan and deliver engaging Humanities lessons for KS3 and KS4 pupils
Teach Humanities subjects in small class settings with a strong focus on engagement and progress
Apply a trauma-informed, relationship-based approach to behaviour and learning
Work collaboratively with pastoral staff and behaviour support teams
Track progress and use assessment to inform targeted support and interventions
Promote resilience, confidence, and aspiration in every learner
About You
Qualified Teacher (QTS or equivalent) in Humanities or a related subject
Strong subject knowledge with experience teaching KS3 and/or KS4
Patient, consistent, and emotionally resilient
Experience with in an SEMH school, PRU, or alternative provision is desirable but not essential
Passionate about inclusive education and supporting pupils to succeed
