Horticultural Lead Teacher

We are seeking a part‑time freelance teaching lead with horticultural knowledge (or vice versa) to join our friendly team, teaching practical growing skills to children in local schools and/or at our community allotment. This role involves leading practical lessons and sharing your knowledge and passion for growing food.

About Grow Together Bucks (GTB)

Grow Together Bucks is a not for profit, Community Interest Company based in High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire. Our community projects include:

  • 300sqm Community Allotment in Wycombe Marsh – enabling community volunteers to experience the joy and importance of sharing, growing and consuming wholesome food. Any food surplus is donated to The One Can Trust.
  • Working with schools, creating growing spaces for children and providing practical growing programmes to teach and inspire the next generation to nurture the soil, connect with nature and grow their own food.
  • Connecting local businesses with schools and community groups in need of help by facilitating, managing and hosting Corporate Volunteering Days.
Role

We are seeking two freelance Horticultural Teaching Leads, with horticultural knowledge (e.g. RHS qualification or similar) and some teaching experience, to join our team to lead the practical (outdoor) and classroom‑based growing activities in a local school and/or with children at our community allotment. A background in and knowledge of horticulture/food growing, including organic and nature‑friendly growing methods, is desired. Teaching experience with primary age children and SEND children is ideal.

Using your knowledge and passion for food growing, you will plan and deliver a series of learning activities, sessions and workshops – guided and supported by the Grow Together team. Your aim will be to share the joy and magic of growing and nature with the children and inspire them to grow at home.

Sessions will run from March 2026, at times and locations to be discussed. We expect to offer two roles, both part‑time freelance positions, with working hours to cover:

  • Weekly or monthly sessions at one or more schools during term time
  • Sessions at our community allotment
  • Gardening club sessions after school
  • Holiday club sessions during school holidays
