HVAC Service Technician

Responsibilities

• Starts system, observes operation, reads gauges and instruments and adjusts mechanisms such as valves, controls, and pumps to control levels of fluid, pressure, and temperature in the system.
• Provides repair of requested equipment, including replacement or adjustment of defective parts or components to return systems to full operation.
• Performs proper evaluation and diagnosis of malfunctioning equipment at customer sites; brings questionable situations to the immediate supervisor’s attention as needed.
• Performs site start-up services for newly installed commercial equipment.
• Consistently contacts base after each call, keeps the dispatcher informed of job status, checks in at the end of the day, and obtains the next day job assignment before leaving for the day.
• Performs scheduled preventative maintenance services as determined by the customer.
• Performs cleaning of condenser and evaporator coils, fans, and ductwork.
• Inspects, adjusts, and replaces fan belts on motors.
• Installs wiring to connect components to the electric power source.

• High School or Trade School Graduate or GED.
• Holds a Universal Refrigerant Card (Type I or Universal).
• At least 10 years of commercial experience.
• Must maintain regular and acceptable attendance as determined by management.
• Must maintain a flexible working schedule, including weekend on-call rotation for standby emergency service per rotation schedule.
• Appearance must be clean and neat at all times.
• Truck and all equipment must be clean at all times.
• Abide by safety rules and regulations, including courteous and defensive driving.
• Responsible for maintaining company tools in accordance with company policies and procedures.
