Position: Veterinary Technician Shift Lead (RVT)

Overview

Summary

Banfield is hiring a full-time Veterinary Technician Shift Lead (RVT) for the location:
High Point, NC (1140: 265 Eastchester Dr #130, High Point, NC). This posting will remain open for a minimum of two weeks or until a sufficient pool of qualified applicants has been received. Pay range: $23.43 to $33.84 per hour. The specific rate and sign-on are determined based on the candidate’s experience, skill level, abilities, education, and may vary by location and minimum wage laws.

Responsibilities and leadership responsibilities are described below. All duties are performed under the direction and supervision of a veterinarian and in compliance with state law where applicable.

Responsibilities

  • Actively recruit new clients by promoting hospital services, Optimum Wellness Plans, preventative care and pet health needs.
  • Manage the flow of clients and patients to ensure high-quality client care and productivity of the veterinary medical team.
  • Provide professional, efficient and exceptional service at all times, including welcoming clients and pets, educating them about their pet’s health, and preparing or performing procedures as directed by the veterinarian.
  • Perform veterinary technician appointments upon approval from supervising veterinarian and under veterinary direction and supervision, in compliance with state law.
  • Assist incoming clients with documentation, enter pet information and history in the system, and ensure prompt service.
  • Assist outgoing clients with instructions, invoices, dispensing prescription items per the veterinarian’s instructions, selling retail products and scheduling future appointments.
  • Manage finances by maintaining accurate balances and following opening/closing procedures.
  • Support the veterinarian to maximize productivity and communicate with team members to maintain patient flow.
  • Obtain relevant information and history from clients and maintain complete medical charts.
  • Ensure safety of pets, clients and associates by using safe restraining techniques and keeping treatment areas clean and organized.
  • Assist with surgery as applicable.
  • Train and mentor new paraprofessional associates.
  • Quality check medical records, medications, regulatory documentation, hospital cleanliness, and timeliness of doctor visits in exam rooms.
  • Use technical skills within state practice acts and conduct administrative duties as necessary.

Leadership Responsibilities

  • Assist Practice Manager in developing an efficient, productive hospital team following Banfield protocols and applicable laws.
  • Support hospital labor management and, as needed, assist in selection, training, and day-to-day supervision of paraprofessional staff.
  • Help create an environment where the team delivers quality, efficient veterinary care.
  • Facilitate effective communication among associates, clients, hospital leadership and Central Team Support.
  • Ensure all hospital associates adhere to Dress and Grooming guidelines.
  • Prepare the team for cases scheduled for the day and assist with transfers or referrals to ensure continuity of care.
  • Identify bottlenecks in medical operations and formulate solutions to improve flow.
  • Collaborate with leadership on client resolution decisions, invoice adjustments and client experience issues.
  • Address equipment issues and assist in inventory management.
  • Assist with management of finances by maintaining accurate balances and proper opening/closing procedures.
  • Quality check medical records, medications, regulatory documentation, hospital cleanliness, and timeliness of doctors seeing patients.

Requirements

Veterinary Technician Certification or Licensure (CVT, RVT, LVT, or LVMT) based on state requirements.
