We are seeking an experienced manufacturing leader to lead the turnaround of an upholstery and furniture manufacturing facility that was recently acquired. This role is responsible for stabilizing operations, rebuilding processes, developing teams, and transforming the plant into a high-performing, scalable operation.
The right leader is hands-on, decisive, and comfortable stepping into underperforming environments to establish structure, accountability, and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities- Lead the full operational turnaround of the plant, stabilizing production, labor, quality, and delivery performance.
- Assess current workflows, staffing models, equipment utilization, and systems; implement improvements quickly.
- Own daily plant operations including production, scheduling, staffing, quality, inventory, and shipping.
- Build, coach, and hold accountable teams across cutting, sewing, upholstery, assembly, and logistics.
- Establish and track KPIs including throughput, scrap, rework, on-time delivery, takt time, and labor efficiency.
- Eliminate bottlenecks and inefficiencies through lean manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Partner with leadership on demand planning, labor planning, and capacity optimization.
- Restore vendor discipline, renegotiate terms where needed, and improve material flow reliability.
- Ensure consistent product quality while improving speed, cost, and delivery performance.
- Reinforce safety, compliance, housekeeping, and operational discipline across the facility.
- Build a performance-driven culture focused on accountability, teamwork, and pride in craftsmanship.
- Support hiring, training, and leadership development to sustain long-term improvement.
- 5+ years of leadership experience in furniture or home furnishings manufacturing
, with upholstery exposure strongly preferred. - Demonstrated success leading plant turnarounds, operational resets, or underperforming facilities
. - Deep understanding of production flow, scheduling, labor planning, and capacity management.
- Proven experience implementing KPIs, takt time, lean manufacturing, and process improvement initiatives.
- Hands-on leadership style with a strong factory-floor presence.
- Strong communication, problem-solving, and change-management skills.
- Experience with ERP or production systems (Cruise Control, Net Suite, or similar preferred).
- Comfortable working fully on-site in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Lead a true plant turnaround with the authority to make meaningful operational change.
