Specialty Welding Technician/Structural Steel Welder
Mickey Truck Bodies is looking for an EXPERIENCED structural steel welder to work in our chassis department.

The innovative product line‑up is prevalent in industries such as food & beverage, vending, propane, rental trucks, emergency & rescue, furniture, battery, oil & natural gas, and data storage. Our 500,000 sq ft manufacturing and fleet services space in 4 states employs over 400 Mickey staff.
Basepay range
$20.00/hr – $23.00/hr
Shift: 1st Shift Monday–Thursday 6:30 AM–5 PM. Overtime on Friday 6:30 AM–3 PM and Saturday 6:30 AM–12 PM as needed.

The Specialty Welding Technician (Structural Steel Welder) is responsible for advanced welding and fabrication of structural steel components used in truck and trailer bodies. The role requires a high level of skill in reading blueprints, fitting, welding, and inspecting structural assemblies to meet quality, safety, and strength standards. The technician works closely with fabrication, engineering, and quality teams to produce durable, code‑compliant structures.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Perform structural welding on carbon steel and other metals using MIG and FCAW welding processes in flat, horizontal, vertical, and overhead positions.
- Read and interpret blueprints, shop drawings, welding symbols, and specifications.
- Fit, tack, and weld structural components such as frames, sub‑frames, reinforcements, and load‑bearing assemblies.
- Ensure welds meet required specifications, strength requirements, and quality standards.
- Operate welding equipment, cutting torches, grinders, and other fabrication tools safely and efficiently.
- Advanced knowledge of structural steel welding techniques and procedures.
- Proficiency with MIG and FCAW welding processes.
- Strong ability to read and interpret blueprints, weld symbols, and measuring tools.
- Knowledge of AWS welding standards and structural welding requirements.
- High attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Strong problem‑solving and communication skills.
- Basic math skills and mechanical aptitude.
- Commitment to workplace safety and use of proper PPE.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Technical school or welding certification preferred.
- Minimum of 3–5 years of structural steel welding experience required.
- AWS certification (D1.1 or similar) preferred or ability to obtain.
- Experience in truck body, trailer, or heavy manufacturing environment preferred.
Manufacturing work environment that involves frequent exposure to fumes or airborne particles, noise, moving mechanical parts, and weather conditions.
